This is a mysterious product. First of all, it’s difficult to assign it to a certain category. Secondary, it is gorgeous! The Korean brand 9Wishes has created something really curious called Vanishing Balm Glow. Are you interested? Read on.
The full name is Vanishing Balm Glow – an advanced tone-up enhancer. It means that this is a multifunctional tool that should brighten, highlight, “erase” some of the skin defects. There is a promise to reduce the pores visually and to smooth wrinkles, as well as perfectly moisturize and soften the skin, on the reverse side of the box. The manufacturer recommends to add product to the daily skin care routine. But it is completely incomprehensible, moisturizing cream it is or primer or CC-cream. In some online stores I found Vanishing Balm Glow in the “Creams” section, and on the official website of the manufacturer I found it in the “Makeup” category. It causes the question of how to wash the face after using this product. Do I need to use an additional makeup remover that is required for removing the BB cream, or is it worth washing as if an ordinary moisturizing cream was applied?
Once Guerlain invented a product that had no name at first. They told that allegedly their magic composition moisturizes, rejuvenates, and smooths, does everything but only does not sing songs. In fact, it was a completely mediocre primer with silicones and silica. By the way, the brand still hasn’t decided of what the category this product is and has included it in the fantastically inept category” Cultured Makeup Tools” on the official website.
In fact, I’m so negative about the Guerlain only from the fact that it promises everything, but does … But it does not do anything. That’s why it discourages me so much. However Vanishing Balm Glow does everything! That’s why I want to understand what it is. I would still recommend the manufacturer to clearly define the cosmetic category. This is necessary to ensure that the buyer understands what he is buying. Meanwhile I will call it a primer and I will test it as a make-up base.
Should I talk about how I like the look of the product? A beautiful tube is made with a very high quality. The volume of the product is 50 ml. The dispenser issues a correct portion of the product. The first thing we see is the consistency. The primer becomes very watery when you stir it. How wonderfully it moisturizes the skin! Feelings are really magical. The cream is light, non-sticky and almost odorless.
Meanwhile the main thing is the effect. For comparison I applied the primer to the right side of the face (the left part of the photo). I hope you can see that the skin color became lighter and more smooth.
Due to the visual impact that the product exerts on the skin, it can be said that this is a concentrate of light-reflecting particles without a shimmer. An explicit blur effect is visible not only in the photo, but also in the mirror. I like it as a single product. However what is most pleasant, the effect is seen even under foundation. In this case the product is applied under a very light BB-cream of brand Yadah.
9Wishes recommend the use their product single for toning up the skin, as a makeup primer, to add it to foundations and concealers, and also to use for highlighting.
Actually I don’t like to mix the cream with concealer or foundation. Still, I select products with certain characteristics and usually do not want to change them. If I need a more light or shiny concealer I just go and take the one. Applying the product over the makeup does give a good illumination. But personally, my skin is already almost white, and an additional layer of whitening product gives an unnatural look.
I want to talk about the composition. Half a day I waited for the representatives of the brand to answer me and send the list of ingredients until I thought of turning the box: there, among the Korean inscriptions, was a decent list of ingredients. But before that, I turned over Google. I have found only this:
Rebus, which means water, nicotinamide and .. em .. something containing cysteine? Why there is only a piece of the molecule on the third picture? Probably, 9Wishes doesn’t know that their cosmetics can be used by people with higher chemical education (notice for Hyemin: I’m PhD in Chemistry). It came out only when I read the list of ingredients. The “cut off” molecule was glutathione. Here is it’s formula, could not it be written normally!?
You probably know how important nicotinamide is for the skin (it’s also known as vitamin B3). Glutathione is a very important antioxidant.
Ingerdients: sea water, butylene glycol, water, caprylic/capric triglyceride, glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, cyclopentasiloxane, cyclohexasiloxane, cyclohexasiloxane, dimethicone, niacineamide, dimethicone crosspolymer, PEG-10 dimeticone, Mica, 1,2-hexanediol, phenyl trimethicone, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, arginine, xantan gum, sodium acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, isohexadecan, polysorbate 80, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract, cimicifugaracemosa root extract, polygonum multiflorum root extract, seasamum indicum (seasame) seed extract, phellinus linteus extract, angelica gigas root extract morus alba bark extract, paeonia lactiflora root extract, sophora angustifolia root extract, scutellaria baicalensis root extract, glutatione, caprylyl glycole, allantoin, aloe barbadensis leaf powder, adenosine, dipotasium glycyrrhizate, cl 77491.
The primer does not affect the stability of foundations. It also does not worsen the condition of the skin, as it is often expected from makeup bases. Moreover, it softens and moisturizes the skin. You know that I rarely recommend anything to buy, because I always approach the evaluation of a product with rigor to the highest degree. So, I recommend this product.
Thank you for the attention. I’m a Russian blogger, however you can find some other reviews in English right here.
